1. Winter melatonin signaling seems critical for BAT growth and thermogenesis (during the arousal phase of hibernation).
2. Food restriction induced hibernation-like torpor-arousal cycles in Tb sooner. However, such food insufficiency-induced "hibernation" needs to be discriminated from seasonal spontaneous hibernation.
3. Metabolism was not mentioned in this study.
